UC "Better Place Project" helping West End Youth  News  admin  20-Apr-2016  0  2245 reads

This year we had several first-year students from University of Cincinnati, helping us with educating West End youth about computers and technology!

It was done through the fantastic "Better Place Project", created by the UC Center for First Year Experience and Learning Communities. The creators describe this project as follow:

One step towards a better world starts with the Better Place Project. It is our hope and aspiration here at the Center for First Year Experience and Learning Communities that our first-year students will give back to the surrounding neighborhoods by using their knowledge and compassion to nurture and cultivate relationships between the community and the University of Cincinnati.

The students support and work with various community partners in different neighborhoods, and we're very lucky that they also selected West End!

A big THANK YOU to all the students who supported us, and to UC Center for First Year Experience and Learning Communities for creating this program, especially this year's leaders:

  • Shane Blaney, Peer Leader Captain, First Year Experience and Learning Communities (FYE & LC)
  • Rich Shivener, Graduate Assistant, FYE& LC
  • Pam Person, Director of FYE & LC and Nationally Competitive Awards
